On display in the auditorium will be recently restored oil portraits of Capt. William Selleck, his wife Charlotte, and son, James. Also, pen and ink portraits with watercolor wash of William's half-brother, George Selleck and his wife Harriett.
Paulette C. Kaufmann retired from book publishing in 1999 after a thirty-year career, received her MBA from New York University in 2000, and until recently, was a book publishing consultant. During her career she also served as President of the Children's Book Council, a not-for-profit association of trade children's book publishers.
Ms. Kaufmann is a descendant of John Selleck who was one of the early proprietors in Stamford. Paulette was co-editor of The Selleck Sentinel, newsletter of the Selleck Researchers Association from 2004 to 2007. She is the author of "David Selleck of Somerset England, and of Massachusetts and Virginia," The Genealogist, Vol. 19, No. 1 (Spring 2005) and coauthor with Clifford L. Stott, CG, AG, FASG, of "The Selleck Family of Gaulden Manor, Tolland, Somerset: Ancestors of David Selleck of Boston, Massachusetts and Virginia," The American Genealogist, No. 321, Vol. 81, No. 1 (January 2006) and "Nineteenth Century Nutmeggers in Georgia," Connecticut Ancestry (August 2003).
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Madison (CT) Historical Society where she curated the 2008 Summer Exhibit, A ROAD RUNS THROUGH IT: How the Turnpike Transformed Madison - a look at the opening of the Connecticut Turnpike in 1958 and how it changed lives and a town.
